Ruth 2nd November 2018

Jan & Richard were our neighbours for 10 years. When we turned up, we were a bit green around the gills but we were so so lucky to have kind, happy people living opposite us. They helped celebrate many markers in our life, “big” birthdays, Christmas & New Year, the birth of our son. We didn’t live in each other’s pockets but it was a real comfort to know they were both there when we needed help or advice. We kept in touch, bumped into each other in the pub occasionally , (no surprise there!!) and met up now and again. Like so many others have said, my lasting memory of Jan was her laugh & love of her family. I know she fought cancer for a long time and stuff was tough, but she never let it define her. She had a beautiful impish smile, a loud explosive laugh and a heart so big I wondered how she fitted it inside her. To Richard and all of Jan’s family I send my deepest condolences. It will be tough not having her by your side or at the end of the phone when you need her love and advice. But you had an amazing Wife, Mum, Grandma, friend and she loved you each and every one of you. Keep talking about her, keep laughing with her and she will always be in you hearts. I will raise my glass to her today, just as Jan would have wanted. Cheers lovely xxxxx
