Dearest Jan, my cousin and Godmother, our hearts are heavy with your loss, you will be sorely missed. I have many memories of Jan and her laughter. When I was a young girl I looked up to Jan, so beautiful and stylish. Jan wore mini-skirts and knee-high boots, her dark glossy hair in a backcombed style, and her eyeliner had the perfect flick! Jan loved to wear hats and one in particular sticks in my mind, the yellow 1970s beret style. One day we had a family outing to Chessington Zoo, Jan wore that hat. We took a tour of the Zoo on the miniature railway, having a pit stop outside the Giraffe’s enclosure to eat our sandwiches. One of the giraffes leant over the fence and took a fancy to Jan’s hat, with one swift tug the hat was gone, never to be seen again-how we all laughed, including Jan! I remember at a family wedding Richard wrote a message to the couple, “if you are as happy as Jan and I, you will be a very happy couple indeed” Think it says it all! Jan, you are an inspiration to us, your strength and courage has been remarkable. Sleep peacefully. Sarah and Mark xxx
